ABOUT ME
My name is Ken Biretz, owner of Benchmark Home Inspection LLC & benchmarkhi.com. I'm a husband and father. I spent 14 years Active Army in the Engineer Corps doing construction in various parts of the world, making places better for others. I've been to both Afghanistan and Iraq and have traveled to many other countries. I am originally from Iowa, I moved to Washington in 2005 and I love it here. My hobbies include: hunting, hiking, long distance shooting, reloading, road cycling, mountain biking, woodworking and camping. I have always had an eye for critiquing others' work, almost to a point where it's a curse. I'm always looking at structures for the good and the bad, everywhere I go, sometimes I can't shut it off. Now as an Inspector, I use that military honed attention to detail and give people the critical information they need to help them make sound investment decisions. I attended the NARIES Home Inspection Course, completed over 40 hours of field training with a WA state licensed home inspector, Passed the Washington state and National Home inspection Exams and am Licensed and Insured in WA state (license #1732).

Highly Recomend Ken
"Ken showed up early for the inspection and was well organized. He was very thorough (I am as well) with his inspection; roof, attic, crawl, and every outlet to door and drawer.
With me being an ex contractor and selling 9 homes I have been around the horn a few times and Ken observed several deficiencies that I hadn't. This is a new construction home so you wouldn't expect too many write-ups but there were, most of being minor in nature but he did find water under the vapor barrier and a grading problem with the lot causing the water in the crawl.
I will be using Ken to do my pre-sell inspection and I highly recommend him!

Professional and Attention to Detail
"Great experience. Very thankful for the time and attention to detail that Ken took in inspecting my home. He worked around my schedule and timeframe. Ken showed up early and was very thorough and professional. He took his time, not rushing through to get to the next job. He explained his concerns and findings as he went along. Having a new home, I didn't think there was much to be concerned about but wanted to have a professional inspect my home before my warranty expired. Thanks to Ken's detailed eye, time and effort into inspecting my home he found that the furnace installed in my home was inadequate for the size of my home. I would have never known this. If not addressed, it will run longer to heat my home, possibly causing premature failure and will also cost more to operate annually. I would definitely recommend Ken to anyone who may be buying/selling or in my case, coming to an end of a home warranty!"

Incredibly thorough inspection.
Ken was Polite, honest, and was fair. He took money off his quote as he was only able to do a partial inspection of the attic. I learned in our conversation that this gentleman is a military veteran, 15 years of service. The best inspector I've hired and I've had a few.
Ken was awesome!
He arrived at the location early and went to work. He is very thorough paying attention to every detail.

Pretty sure I got full value for my dollar
I may be more than a year from selling this house, so this inspection was just to get an experienced point of view. Ken showed up early and stayed late. The planned 4 hour inspection took 5 1/2. And since I'm a veteran he included a 15% discount. I showed him some issues so he didn't waste time finding them. The report was in my email that evening. I definitely plan to call Ken if my next house is in his area of operations.

Great Service
Top notch service, and I would highly recommend Ken! Very responsive and timely communication, and he delivered a detailed report of issues with photos and intuitive descriptions the same day. I've worked with other inspectors before, and I thought Ken went above and beyond.

Excellent Home Inspection Service
We are on our 1 year warranty inspection of our house. Ken came in and went over every detail. He looked at areas my husband and I would not not have thought to inspect. Even our builder representative went over only the areas that we thought were an issue. He was friendly and took his time and within hours after he had left, I had revived a thorough report with photos of the areas that issues in our house. He gave me please of mind. Hire a US Veteran
Ken did a wonderful job inspecting the house I'm buying. He explained everything throughly. Told me everything that needs to be fixed, or replaced. If or when I buy another house, Ken will definitely be the person inspecting the house.
